No, no...I'm not pregnant (thank goodness!). Amelia is sick again. Well, she threw up once today and that was at day care, and when we got home, she was a bit lethargic and not really wanting to do anything. So, I took her temp, and yup. She had a fever. So, since it was pretty high, I gave her some good ol' Ibuprofen and she took an awesome nap...about an hour and a half or so. I slept a bit with her, mainly because I was faking being asleep in hopes she would go to sleep and I actually fell asleep. After I finally got up, she was out for another half hour or so, so that was good.
When she got up, she was pretty much in a good mood. I could tell when the Ibuprofen was wearing off...she turned into a bit of a monster. Sure enough, she was pretty hot, so I gave her a bit more Ibuprofen and all was well.
She ate pretty well too. She had a few pretzel sticks, some of the soup they sent home from day care (they get lunch there and they send home their leftover lunch when they don't eat), a single grape and 3 or 4 pretty large strawberries. Tonight, she didn't want the awesome salmon, rice or green beans that I made for dinner, she only wanted pink beans (think black beans, but pink). Yeah, I know. Beans on a possible bad stomach...good luck with that one. I just wanted something in her little tummy before she went to bed. Oh, and I nursed her a crap load this afternoon. I was only nursing 2 or 3 times a day, but I tend to break this when she is sick because I figure that breast milk has loads of antioxidants and loads of goodness, so it definitely can't hurt.
So, here's to crossing fingers and pressing thumbs that all goes well tonight...please lord let tonight go well...

The most awesome nose sucker
Yes, that is right. This post is about a snot sucker. The most awesome snot sucker that is.
Amelia is suffering from pretty bad sniffles. Poor thing can't sleep too well since she can't really breathe. She keeps waking herself up. Not good for her...not good for mommy. I am planning on making this essential oil mix that should help with the cough and the sniffles from No Ordinary Homestead, but i just ordered the oils, so it will take a day or two to get here. In the mean time I needed a quick fix. THIS* is what I got from the Apotheke today. It is the Medinaris Nasensauger-Staubsauger. (*The website is only in German, but there are pictures of the thing.)
I let Amelia play with it a bit before I suck out her nose. She chews on it, which I pretty much expected considering she is putting EVERYTHING into her mouth these days. I suck a bit on her cheek, her lip, her finger...where ever so she gets a bit used to it. Then it's showtime. I have to hold her head since she really doesn't like having her nose sucked. I don't really think any kid does. You would not believe the amount of snot that comes out. Seriously, crazy amounts. I haven't taken a picture of it yet, but I am pretty sure you wouldn't want to see that. :)
So, if you have a little one that is suffering from the sniffles, I would suggest the nose sucker...and the essential oil mix from NOH. If you get the nose sucker, let me know what you think of it. :)

Stupid cold!
So, I've got a cold. It decided to rear its ugly face at 3am...DAMN YOU COLD!! Luckily I have some of the best in-laws in the world and Franz and Marianne came to Weiden to watch after Amelia so I could run over to the doctor. I wanted to go to the doctor because A) I have no clue what I can take to combat a cold while breastfeeding and B) I wanted to be sure it wasn't a sinus infection...Well, it is a sinus infection and my doctor wants to combat it with antibiotics. Wait a sec...I thought I couldn't take antibiotics??? Well, I can. There are a few antibiotics that I can take, and yes, a little bit will get into the milk, but the doctor assured me it will have no ill-effects on Amelia.
So, now, I'm going to sign off and probably t he next post I make will be made from the US of A! I hope this achy feeling goes away soon...and the pressure...and the sore throat...
