Little Girl's Room

See, as promised, here are some pictures of little girl's room :).

The "Beistellbett". It is a little crib/bed that attaches to our bed so that we can co-sleep without having her in our bed. It is really a great idea!

Looking into the room...there's the changing table and the crib and my rocking chair!
That pink tub thing is baby girl's bathtub. It's called the Tummy Tub and comes highly recommended from every midwife and mother that I've talked to. So we'll see how this goes.
The crib :). Yes, the teddy bear has a diaper...we've got to practice on something!!!
The view from the rocking chair...there's her closet, and no, it isn't full...yet :) But this little girl does have more clothes than Markus and I combined! However, they're for different ages, so I believe that is ok :).

The bump

Here are a few pics of the bump as of August 23, 2009. So this puts me at 36 weeks and 4 days.

She's getting so big!!!

Of course, Charlie needed to be in a pic!

Buddha, Buddha, Buddha

Oops...

Sorry it's been so long. I think I've really just been to lazy to get anything up, so I'll make up for that today with a few posts :).

First of all, little girl is still growing, and kicking, and giving mommy some raging heartburn. She's in good health, although they are keeping a close eye on my amniotic fluid levels, which is just fine with me. I have to go to the doctor every week to have it all checked out.

Oh, and men, don't read this next comment...

Why is it that in "What to Expect When You're Expecting" they don't tell you that at the end of the pregnancy, your doctor is basically fisting you to see if your cervix has begun to open? Seriously...I would have like a little bit of forewarning. Talk about an uncomfortable feeling!

Ok, enough of that. Men, you can read again.

It was quite an eventful month this August! It was full of Polterabends, bachelorette parties, weddings, trips to the Czech Republic, putting little girl's room together...very busy...so we'll say that's why I haven't posted in a while....yeah :)

Markus' cousin got married to his wonderful girlfriend (now wife) after 14 years of being together...no they're not old...Ramona is my age and Matthias is a couple years older than Markus. They've been love birds since the beginning of time. Anywho...I was their photographer. This 9 month pregnant lady running around the city hall and the church was really a sight to behold. Luckily, I had my trusty assistant, Markus, to help me out with some of the pictures.

Oh, and the bachelorette party! We had loads of fun! We decided that it would be best to have a realxing weekend at a spa in the Czech Republic, so that is what we did. 7 hot ladies and loads of old people in Marienbad makes for quite a fun time! We relaxed, gambled a little at the casino there, got massages (or a facial in my case), and ate...oh did we eat. Every chance this hotel got to feed us they did...oh, and we let them!

It was a really fun wedding, and I'll get some pictures of it up soon...I promise!

Last week, Markus and I decided to get a move on little girl's room, so we painted it a pretty light purple. Then I decided that the hallway could also use a coat of paint since it looks like we've lived in this apartment for 10 years and not 2. So, the hallway got a fresh coat of white paint. Then this past Saturday, we picked up our baby furniture and had a little party so that the guys could put everything together while the ladies looked at the baby clothes I already got and then direct the men as to where the furniture should go. I must say though, that the guys' suggestion as to where the furniture should go was best, and so after moving everything around a few times, we settled on that. The pictures will be in another post...soon to come...I promise.

So, that was basically our month of August.

Seriously Rush Limbaugh?

Time to bring out the good ol' soapbox....

Rush, could you be any more of an idiot? Comparing Obama to Hitler? Or comparing his logo for national health care to a Nazi swastika logo? Give me a freaking break! Below are the two logos. The first is Obama's logo. Notice that it is the health symbol placed in the Obama logo surrounded by outlines of people. Not bad. I see no swastika looking thing here. Then go to the Nazi one**. Oh my god! It is an Eagle on top of the swastika! Holy shit! They are so similar! They both have wings! Ok, ok, the one that Rush used was superimposed on a bunch of troops lined up (you can go to Rush's Website for the actual pictures he was comparing).

Ok, enough of petty picture comparing. To actually compare Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler is absolutely effed up...in my opinion. You may be of a different opinion, but I would really like to see how you would go about making that comparison? Please, enlighten me if you are of the opinon that Obama and Hitler are so similar. Just to say that the two ruled by dictate (which I do not believe is the case with Obama) is not much of a similarity, especially when part of the argument just isn't true. Good lord, this guy makes me so freaking mad. You republicans are being given the short end of the stick with this guy. He's so freaking crazy, and his statements are just absurd! You were better off when Ann Coulter was your "spokesperson".

Putting soapbox away...

**If you'd like to see the pic that I'm talking about, please go to Rush's website. Markus thought that it wasn't a good idea to have a swastika on my blog since it is against German law...and since we're going to be parents, we must become good, law-abiding citizens :).

Update on little girl

Yesterday I went to the doctor for a normal checkup...I'm now having to go every two weeks, since it is towards the end of the pregnancy. During the EKG, she was super active and kept kicking/punching the sensors. It was quite funny. And since my amniotic fluid levels are a bit low, my doctor is doing a ultrasound at each visit being sure that it isn't getting too low...it isn't. So here's the rundown of what the doctor said:

Yes, I still have a bit too little amniotic fluid, but nothing to worry about as of yet (if ever).
Little girl's thigh bone is 66mm long, making her roughly 462mm long.
Her head is on the small side, but not to worry, since her measurements put her at 2 days older than we thought.
She weighs about 2400 grams.
Everything else looks perfect.

So, all in all, a good trip to the doctor. Right now she has the hiccups and is kicking me in the ribcage...quite an odd combo of feelings if you ask me. :)

Little Girl in 3D...take 2

Little Girl at 34 Weeks and 5 Days

Ok, so I have just come to find out that these things are actually 4D...it says so right on the ultrasound picture...Silly Germans calling it a 3D ultrasound :)...that's where I got it from...oh well.

This time around, she wasn't too cooperative though. 5 minutes before we went into the room, she was super active and moving and kicking...and hiccuping. However, she wore her little self out and all she wanted to do was to sleep...with her arm in front of her face. Great. We did get some good pics though...these are the best...

So tired...Here you can see her forehead, right eye, nose, a bit of ear, and of course, her arm...

Here's another shot where you can see the nose just a little better...

So we tried to wake her up a bit, and this is the shot she gave us...our little thinker!

Then she started getting tired and wanting us to leave her the hell alone, so, I believe she gave us the finger....

Yup, yup...that's definitely the finger...
