Seriously Rush Limbaugh?

Time to bring out the good ol' soapbox....

Rush, could you be any more of an idiot? Comparing Obama to Hitler? Or comparing his logo for national health care to a Nazi swastika logo? Give me a freaking break! Below are the two logos. The first is Obama's logo. Notice that it is the health symbol placed in the Obama logo surrounded by outlines of people. Not bad. I see no swastika looking thing here. Then go to the Nazi one**. Oh my god! It is an Eagle on top of the swastika! Holy shit! They are so similar! They both have wings! Ok, ok, the one that Rush used was superimposed on a bunch of troops lined up (you can go to Rush's Website for the actual pictures he was comparing).

Ok, enough of petty picture comparing. To actually compare Barack Obama to Adolf Hitler is absolutely effed up...in my opinion. You may be of a different opinion, but I would really like to see how you would go about making that comparison? Please, enlighten me if you are of the opinon that Obama and Hitler are so similar. Just to say that the two ruled by dictate (which I do not believe is the case with Obama) is not much of a similarity, especially when part of the argument just isn't true. Good lord, this guy makes me so freaking mad. You republicans are being given the short end of the stick with this guy. He's so freaking crazy, and his statements are just absurd! You were better off when Ann Coulter was your "spokesperson".

Putting soapbox away...

**If you'd like to see the pic that I'm talking about, please go to Rush's website. Markus thought that it wasn't a good idea to have a swastika on my blog since it is against German law...and since we're going to be parents, we must become good, law-abiding citizens :).

Seriously, I can buy that in a restroom???

On Monday night, Markus, some friends and I went to go see Harry Potter in English at the Cinemaxx in Regensburg. It is a pretty nice theater, and one thing that I love about German movie theaters is that there is assigned seating. It was a bit weird at first, but once you're used to it, it sucks to go back to the non-assigned-seating method.

So, before the movie, the girls (which was everyone besides Markus) decided to make a run on the toilet. While in the line, since there is always a line for the women's restroom, something caught my eye...

But wait...what are they selling???

Oh, now I can see it better...you can buy a mini vibrator, a flavored condom, a "vibrator-penis-ring" and a "lustfinger"

Yes, this is a sex toy vending machine. Each one costs you only 4 Euro, so if you're feeling a little frisky, you can get one of these before you go into that dark cave of a theater...that is if the theater wasn't packed like it was for Harry Potter. But who would really want to buy that in the bathroom at the movie theater??? Come on now!

Oh, and I asked Markus if there is anything like that in the Men's restroom...he didn't think so, meaning, he didn't look.

WTF?

So, here in Germany there is A LOT of English used within the German language itself. One thing that REALLY gets me, is when they take an English word and bastardize its meaning. For example, a couple years ago, Emily and I were here and saw a sign for an "Electronics Gang Bang". Now, while this is a big meeting of the people who like the musical genre of Electronics, the word "Gang Bang" is what really gets me. From what I understand, the word gang bang is when a female wants to be initiated into a gang. Basically all of the men of the gang line up to rape this woman. Not a very good word. But here in Germany, it is used to mean group sex, as well as in the sense above, a meeting. I find this absolutely awful.

Yet another example came today when I was reading a magazine about the happenings around Weiden. A DJ decided to take the name "DJ Slutshaker". Seriously, WTF??? I am pretty sure that he took this name just because he thought it "cool" (another English word used often). But seriously, Slutshaker? When I hear this as the name of a DJ, I automatically think of a strip club.

However, this also brings up a much bigger debate, the "Englishifying of the German Language". There have been a few reports I've seen on TV about this, and they are really interesting. There is a huge surge, espeically in the younger generations, of using more and more English words in their everyday language.

What is REALLY annoying to me is when people beign to blame the Americans and the English for this. Oh no sir, in my opinion it is not the English speaker's fault. It is that of the Germans. They want to sound cool, and right now the English language is "total in", so they bring over words they hear, no matter the meaning and give them new meaning. This is not to say that the Germans bastardize every English word brought over into their language. No, not at all. They use the word "sale" correctly. In my opinion if many Germans are against this, then they should try creating a law limitizing the influence of the English language. In France, they have this law where most of the songs on the radio are French. They limit the ammount of foreign language songs played on the radio. Here, just about every song is sung in English.

However, I really just wanted to talk about DJ Slutshaker and his awful name.

UPDATE: Ok, so since the original DJ Slutshaker contacted me, he isn't an awful guy. Just a DJ with a catchy name...Maybe I'll become a DJ (yea right!) in the US and call myself DJ Schlampenschlepper...I think that would be funny! But first, I would definitely have to work on my DJing skillz which are basically non-existent...so I'll just leave that to the pros, such as DJ Slutshaker. ;)
